Super Bowl champion and broadcaster Troy Aikman may have more in common with the average citizen than we originally thought. He, like countless others, also hates Skip Bayless.
Bayless was famously let go from his spot as professional agitator on ESPN’s First Take. Not long after leaving, Fox Sports hired Bayless for a segment called Undisputed, where Skip and new co-host Shannon Sharpe will verbally spar.
Aikman has worked as a broadcaster on FOX for longer than he was actually a quarterback in the NFL. Thus, he wasn’t too happy when he found that Bayless would now be his colleague. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Aikman was asked about his feelings for Skip. He didn’t’ shy away from his feelings. Aikman stated, “To say I’m disappointed in the hiring of Skip Bayless would be an enormous understatement. Clearly, Jamie Horowitz and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to building a successful organization. I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless.”
Aside from his loud mouth, ego, and overall attitude, why does Aikman have such a hatred for Skip? 20 years ago, Bayless published a book where he, without any proof or sources (or dignity apparently), stated that Troy Aikman is gay. Clearly, Aikman wasn’t happy about these baseless acquisitions and he hasn’t forgotten them. For viewership sake, it will be interesting to see if Bayless and Aikman share any FOX screen time together. Surely Aikman has a few more words he’d like to share with Skip.
