Rapper, actor and writer extraordinaire, Donald Glover’s highly anticipated original series Atlanta will premiere on FX on September 6th. Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has an Emmy to his name for his writing contributions to ’30 Rock,’ starred in the NBC sitcom ‘Community,’ and has been featured in films like ‘The Martian’ and ‘Magic Mike: XXL’. He’s also released two full-length albums titled Camp and Because the Internet, as well as a slew of mixtapes and EP’s. Finally, he will get to see the original series he’s been working on for two years come to life.
Critics were given the first four episodes of Atlanta and have had nothing but good things to say about it. The story will follow Earn (played by Glover) whose struggling to make it in Atlanta. When his cousin Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry), an aspiring rapper, may have a big hit on his hands, Earn teams up with Alf to try and take his rap career to the top. Atlanta currently has a score of 92 on the review aggregation website Metacritic, which makes it one of the best reviewed new shows of the year. If the viewers tune in to watch it, there’s a good chance Atlanta is here to stay. FX may have a serious hit on their hands.
